Magazine, anyone?

I thought I wanted a copy of Cosmopolitan on my way out of Ralph's, but now I'm not so sure...

because it means I have to go near THIS.

Somewhere, a little girl with a mouthful of Mentos is getting the third degree from her parents for attempting to introduce the barter system to the modern grocery store.

There Are No Words.

To describe this picture. Ever since I saw it taped up on the side of the register at Golden Apple Comics, I think about it constantly. And now you will too:

You are welcome.

Children + Titanic = Shitty Book Covers

Is he begging for rescue? Or screaming in terror at the disembodied hand floating in midair?

Needlessly to say, I got a huge kick out of it. That's Little Ol' Me, chortling at the suffering of pre-teen shipwreck victims. What could be worse than that?

Laughing at pre-teen shipwreck victims and ADORABLE PUPPY SHIPWRECK VICTIMS!

White Star is described by one Amazon reviewer as, and I quote, "a survival story that will appeal to dog aficionados as well as kids interested in the tragedy."

Well, hey! I'm a little of both! But that cover....I prefer my boy-meets-dog-meets-iceberg stories with a little more oomph to their covers...

PERFECT.

Bummed OUT.

Yes, I am bummed out. Because I missed THIS:

WITHIN HEAVEN'S EARSHOT!

How perfect would this have been for me to meander through? Stupid Lola. At least discovering this marvelous exhibit through LA Weekly the very day it closed introduced me to something that I might yet have a chance to experience...

A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT JACK CHICK!

How marvelous!

Oh, and hey, Easter! Bok bok!

Ho Ho NO.

In this week's edition of Creepy Shit On the Street, we've got, well, more creepy shit from my street. Like this:

Going our way, sailor? We'd walk back to the North Pole ourselves, but I'm a snowman with no ability to move, and, well, someone chopped off Robot Santa's legs. Gruesome, yes. So...how about that lift?

In Easter news, I'm always amazed at the lengths some Christian people will go to trick their children into having "fun" with the crucifixion of Our Lord. In a sense, they're just trying to balance out the whole pagan fertility chocolate thing, but still. You want to get your kid cute stuff, stick a copy of Finding Nemo in that Easter basket. You want your kids thinking about the crucifixion? Take them to church and be prepared to answer some morbid questions. Don't try to mix the two into one time-saving dvd experience.

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

See? Isn't everyone having fun?
